Steady consolidation of steel structures market in Poland

27 Jul 2023

"The market of steel structures in Poland 2023-2028" report released by Spectis finds that ten largest producers of steel structures operating in Poland represented nearly 35% of output produced by top 100 steel structure manufacturers in 2021, compared to 30% in the preceding year. This represents an unprecedented increase in just one year. The change has largely been driven by a steep rise in product prices, which was better handled by the major manufacturers.

The Polish steel structure market can be considered as stabilised in terms of the number of major manufacturers. There have been few new market players in recent years. These include Exbud Konstrukcje Sp. z o.o. (a company established after the sale of the steel structure segment by Skanska S.A.) and WKS Duna Polska Sp. z o.o. (a company held by the Hungarian-based Duna).

Mostostal Siedlce, a member of the Polimex-Mostostal Group, is currently the clear market leader. The top ten also includes Fabryka Konstrukcji Stalowych i Maszyn Spomasz, Atlas Ward, and Promus Ruda Slaska.

The approaching launch of a number of large-scale projects encourages more manufacturers to step up their production capacity. Last spring Mostostal Krakow, a member of the Budimex Group, completed the acquisition of Konstalex, a company based in Radom, thus boosting its production capacity for steel structures by over a half.

Mazowieckie and Slaskie remain on top in terms of regional distribution of production capacity. These two regions account for nearly one-third of the sector’s total production capacity. We expect that the sector’s production capacity will consistently move towards north-western Poland due to the energy transition of Polish economy that is planned to last at least two decades.
